Over the years that cosmetic surgery has been increasingly flourishing, the term facelift has been given various meanings. And cosmetic surgeons have developed modified and partial facelifts, mini facelifts, deep plane facelifts, temporal facelifts, thread lifts, SMAS facelifts, the Weekend Recovery LAZER-LIFT® and midface lifts.
A facelift, also called a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat and tighten the loose skin on the face, neck, and underlying tissues. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), 138,245 facelifts were performed in the United States last year.
