How soon can I get cosmetic surgery?

cosmetic surgery
Hailey asked:

I am trying to become a cryptolinguist for the Air Force. I am taking the ASVAB on Monday and processing on Tuesday. My question is; how soon after basic training can I have a rhinoplasty done? Can I have it done while I’m at the DLI in Monterey?

Note; I plan on paying for the procedure with my own money. I’m not pursuing free cosmetic surgery through the military.

Nothing will stop you from getting the surgery, but PLEASE make sure that your chain of command knows all about it. You will have to fill out all sorts of paperwork to say that the military isn’t responsible if something goes wrong.

And keep in mind – if something DOES go wrong – you can be discharged for doing something to yourself and then not being capable of mission accomplishment. If you get infections, you have to pay out of pocket for treatment.

Don’t be in that much of a hurry – wait until DLI is done and THEN have the surgery. Wait until your training is finished.

you cannot have anything done without prior approval from your doctor AND your command to take the necessary leave( Chargeable)

you may NOT miss any school or training or duty whatsoever. so no not while at DLI unless you happen to be there the last 2 weeks of December when all schools shut down and you can have it done and be recovered before classes start back up again.
