Can someone describe their vision the first few days after LASIK surgery?
in_my_opinion asked:
I’m having LASIK this Thursday to correct a high astigmatism. The surgeon is highly recommended, educated, and I trust him completely. I know most people see dramatic results right away, but varying sources say it can take up to 6 months before your vision is stabilized. Has anyone else had this surgery and how well was your recovery time? Were you able to see better right away and go on with daily life as normal?

I had lasik surgery in 2001, when the 1st removed the bandages I thought everything had failed. Everything before me was a blur. Before I could only see about 8 to 10 feet in front of me and now it was worse. About 1 hr to 2 hrs later I got full focus and to this day I can see very well. Good luck to you..Hope you can have insurance pick up the tab..
I just had Lasik back in October, the first 36 hrs were foggy, like after you’ve been swimming in a pool for awhile, but after that it was perfect. I’m still pinching myself to see if it is for real, its so great. I went from 20/200 in left & 20/400 in right to 20/15 vision in both eyes.

you are in for a real treat!!!
The next day I could read the speedometer dial on the car, street signs far away, the golf ball land after I hit it. one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I’m 58 now had it done when I was 43 and it has diminished a little now but one of the fringe benefits was being able to read a newspaper outdoors in the sunlight without glasses! that wasn’t supposed to happen but with the process of evening out the lens as well as contouring it for distance viewing it was a great fringe benefit! For the first week keep the eyes lubed with the drops the give you and don’t rub them or get anything in them and you should be fine! The moment I came out of the procedure I could read signs across the office wall that I couldn’t read when I went in!!! You will be amazed!!! GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!

I was about 20/250 before Lasik surgery a couple of years ago. The procedure was painless, probably due to the Valium they gave me. The ride home (as a passenger, of course) was fairly uncomfortable, mainly due to light sensitivity. The doctor gave me dark goggles, but the light was still too bright. I was in some pain once I got home (maybe 3 hours post procedure), but I had some left over Vicodin, and took two doses of that. The Vicodin took the edge off. Slept fine that night. Woke up the next morning, and I COULD SEE FINE! Hallelujah! I was jazzed up about that. I drove myself to my one day check up (an 2 hour round trip) with no problems. For that check up, I was seeing at 20/25, less than 24 hours after the surgery. I went to work that afternoon (doing ultrasound which really requires you to use your eyes). For my one week check up, I was seeing between 20/20 and 20/15. Other than the touch of pain I had post procedure, before I went to bed for the night, I had no other problems. I would do it again in a heartbeat! No more glasses, no more contacts, no more cleaning solutions and saline!
Congratulations! your life will change for the better in so many ways.
I had the PKR done and I could see perfectly right away!! ( like vaseline on the eyes ), the drugs make you a little loopy so you will want to go and sleep it off after surgery. Your eyes will be dry for a few weeks and your night vision will be a little blurry for maybe a month or so but that is just around lamposts and headlights.. I had the surgery done on a Friday and Saturday I was out for dinner and watching TV. Drove to work on Monday and I work on a computer. Mind over matter, if you have a postive attitude you will do just fine.
I had LASIK almost 3 weeks ago and my vision is excellent at this point. I could see right away after the surgery. I went home after it and emptied the dishwasher and did some other stuff and then took a nap for an hour and then just relaxed. My biggest thing was for about 3 days after the surgery my up close vision was blurry and a lot of light bothered me. According to my doctor it takes about 3 months for your vision to stabilize, although mine is pretty stable right now. I can see 20/10 at this point, which I was about 20/40 before the surgery. I do everything as normal, but I make sure I wear sunglasses when I go outside if it seems light out so I don’t damage my eyes. I luckily had my surgery over Christmas break and went out the day after I had it done. I would definately say that not everyone has the same results, but for about 98% of the people that have it, everything turns out great.
It takes me about one week to have perfect eyesight. But on that day itself, u will recover like 50% of ur vision. Now i am like 2 month after my lasik. Evrything is fine except for nite vision which is not as good as before. But day time the vision is very perfect
I got my Lasik done on monday . Now it is 3 days since then. My right eye is very good but the left eye is still blure . My doctor siad that i will get 20/20 after surgery since my shortsight is only -3.5 D Left and 3 on Right . But it look like not turn to be good at this stage. When i waching Tv there is shad around the object . Ex when i watching the Tenis u can find that the double line in the tenis court. I am a littel bit worry that i have to ware a glass again for the Left eye . I have read that it will improve over time . But since the first day to now it seems that it is not improve at all .
