lasik
ibanezcorey5 asked:

I am a sophomore in high school and I am pretty sure this is what I want to do. How can I get a degree in ophthalmology and become strictly a lasik surgeon? Are there any very good schools in the state of GA or fairly close? Any help would be much appreciated.

4 years of college, then med school, be a resident, intern and do a fellowship. You have to be an Ophthalmologist a “MD” to do LASIK.

As it stands right now, only opthalmologists can do lasik, not optometrists, so it’s going to be a long slog at university. You will need to be an MD first and then specialize later in Opthalmology, after your general training.
Medicine isn’t for everyone, and it’s along and expensive degree so you have to be 100% committed. If you are interested in eyes, you could also consider optometry, since it is well paid and offers similar amounts of patient contact as LASIK surgeons get.
