Would you ever consider getting plastic surgery?

plastic surgery
Marissa C asked:

Would you ever consider getting plastic surgery and why?

There’s quit a few things that I don’t like about my body but none of them would make me want to get plastic surgery. The only situation I can think of in which I would consider it would if I had been badly burned and had extreme scaring or something like that.

Yes, I would get reconstructive surgery if I needed to..car wreck, burn, etc.

Well these are two very different situations. In one case you’re dealing with no underlying abnormality wherein an individual simply wishes aesthetic enhancement (which is a patient right in the Western world), in the other scenario, especially in a burn victim, initial care is offered by general surgery. If the patient survives surgery, plastic surgery has advanced so far that it would only be reasonable that such a patient be offered the opportunity to regain a sense of self-worth by virtue of anatomic manipulation.

As to whether I would get plastic surgery, this is a matter that is confidential between my physican and me.

If I were a chick and had saggy breasts , I’d get implants.

As a guy I don’t really need much prettying up , but I will probably ,eventually get some hair transplantation if the hair line keeps receding.

It really depends on how you feel right now! Of course someone who has a really bad burn or something will consider having reconstructive surgery, but that is obviously different. Again, it really depends how you see and think about yourself. I, for example, have really large arms. It’s something that runs in the family and because of that I am getting plastic surgery done on my arms next week. If you self conscious about a certain area(s), and have tried everything there is…well Plastic surgery may be your one major option. good luck!

Only if the damage was from some kind of accident. I don’t look like much, but I’m happy with what God gave me.

No way unless I was horrifically disfigured as you say. Appearances aren’t that important to me. There was a girl in my local newspaper who had liposuction to slim down for her wedding. She didn’t live to see it, the surgery killed her. In my experience most people who go in for these operations will never be satisfied with their appearence.

If I could significantly improve something about my face, body without significant expenses and serious risk of things going wrong during surgery, I would.

Yeah I agree with you Marissa. I would only get plastic surgery if I needed it to recover from a severe accident or burn or something. Otherwise I believe in being happy with what you have, there are lots of things you can do to improve your appearance if you are unhappy with it, plus each one of us is the result of generations of natural selection (or of God’s craftsmanship) so why mess with that?

I did, but it was to remove a birthmark that was changing shape (skin cancer is a risk of this), a mole that hadn’t been there when I was born, and a chicken-pox scar. Also, it was all my mom’s idea. (I was 12 or 13 at the time.)

No, I’m happy with my body.

If other people aren’t happy with it that’s their problem.

Even if I was badly burned I probably wouldn’t want it, why go through the extra pain and suffering?
